ISSVA President's Message

Journal of Vascular Anomalies (JoVA)

The Journal of Vascular Anomalies (JoVA) has been approved by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). This was the first and significant hurdle to become Pubmed Central indexed, the Medline arm for Open Access journals. In a separate process, JoVA is applying for the all-important Impact Factor. Thus, JoVA is on the road toward increased discoverability through literature indexing  as planned. Don’t forget, all prior publications in JoVA with be retroactively placed in Pubmed Central once JoVA is accepted.

Today, we have approximately 80 high-quality articles covering basic science, clinical series, evidence-based reviews, contemporary reviews, case reports, and "how-I-do-it" pieces. Over 100 reviewers, and an amazing editorial team, diligently and efficiently completed their work to get authors published in a timely fashion. On average, manuscript reviews were completed by 10.5 days with a turn-around response time to authors in 39 days, and a final article disposition by 65 days.

Again, thank you! Member support of JoVA has rendered its success as the official journal of the International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies (ISSVA) and the only journal of its kind dedicated to the complex world of Vascular Anomalies. Please continue to encourage your colleagues and thought leaders to submit their original articles, reviews, and cases to JoVA today.  As you know, our continued success depends upon the volume and quality of manuscript submissions received.  Also, look toward JoVA in coming months to find 2022's ISSVA World Congress compendium of abstracts.

We invite you to read some of JoVA's most recent publications:
